Volunteer
You bake a cake or some pies for donations.
You take an envelope around the neighborhood for your favorite charity. You
collect a few things for the local clothing and toy drives. You freely spend your
time helping those who need help. These
actions and many other countless actions are explained by one word, Volunteer.
The word comes
from Latin, and can be translated as: "will" (as in doing something out of ones
own free will).
Volunteerism
is the willingness of people to work on behalf of others, by contributing
their time, energy, and talents to the causes they hold dear.
There are
many ways to serve your country
through
volunteerism.
One way is through The American Legion Family; Legionnaire,
Auxiliary, Squadron all combined a group of individuals focusing their energies
to support Veterans and their communities. One would think that an Organization
formed by Veterans only supports Veterans, not so.
Throughout the country many
American Legion Post contribute time and money to Hospitals, Schools, Churches
and private Charities.
Why
volunteer,
volunteering not only helps others, but
also oneself, the effect that
volunteerism has on the people who
participate is emotional as well as intellectually fulfilling.
So feel better, Volunteer. |
