Monthly Newsletter for September 2010
Volume 5, Issue 09
Greetings
I hope all of you are doing well.
As you may or may not be aware I have been out of town for 30 days. I have been in contact with Members and by all reports all is well, so I would like to thank all of you that are helping out in my absence. A special note of thanks to Bill Davis and Carl Pretz for keeping me posted on all the Post's goings on. I can tell you that in our 6,000 mile journey we have visited several Posts and there is no place like home. We even ran into several Members & Legion Riders from our area that have visited our Post and they all say we have a great Post.
We attended a nighttime lighting of Mount Rushmore where they held special tribute to Veterans and Active Duty Military, it was moving and uplifting.
We truly have a beautiful and most wonderful Country but as I said there is no place like home. We miss you all.
For God and Country
Tony Alvarez, Commander Post 130
Do you value your freedoms? Do you love this country? Do you Support Our Troops?
From around the world, people come to our nation to make a new, better life for themselves and their families. From every corner of the globe there are people who call America home. America is made up of patriots. Her children enjoy more freedoms than the citizens of any other country on earth. But these freedoms...they are not free. Everyday our men and women fight to defend the principles that this country is built upon. When our blood is spilled on foreign soil, our troops and their families have made the ultimate sacrifice. It is our duty as Americans to ensure these patriots, our nation's heroes, are cared for upon their return home. It is our duty as Americans to show our troops that we support them and their families as they give so much for us. The American Legion is leading that charge.
For God and Country,
Carl Pretz, Adjutant

We hope you all have a happy and safe Labor Day. There's not much going on this time of year, but it's been a good summer and we hope you've enjoyed yours.
Welcome home to Tony and Candy. We hope you had a fun and exciting trip and we're glad you're back. We've missed you!

Chapter 130 is ramping up for an exciting few months. The Inaugural LaBelle Bike Fest is scheduled for 9 October 2010 and promises to be a great event. To make it happen, we're all going to have to join in and show support through volunteering. Please mark your calendars and plan on being there to help. All net proceeds from this event will go to finishing LaBelle's Veteran's Memorial Park, making this a truly great cause.
As we ready ourselves for the return of our northern friends, we should be thinking of places we can ride! Chapter 130 welcomes all destination suggestions. If you have a ride idea, please contact our Run Coordinator, Greg Sorensen, or any officer.
Our Chapter meets at 7PM on the fourth Thursday of each month; our next meeting is 22 September 2010 and I hope to see all of you there.
For God and Country,
Ray 'Bouncer' Leventhal, Director
American Legion Riders

We, the men and women of the American Legion Family, have faith in the Almighty and in our great Nation. We pray that the men and women of our armed services will be kept from harm and that our conflicts will end so that our heroes may be returned to the homeland they help defend every day. We ask that the sacrifices they are prepared to make are not taken for granted by our citizens and that all who serve this nation are treated with respect.
