Greetings
"What would you attempt to do if you knew you could not fail" Interesting play on words don't you think? Well the truth is, that despite the LaBelle Bridge not working or the fear of possible bad weather from tropical storm Bonnie and let's not forget the stress of just hoping everything works out, The Fallen Heroes Benefit was again a glorious success.
The fact is that the Benefit is getting bigger and even harder to plan. Regardless of the ever-growing difficulties we have learned to work together and that is why we will never fail. Thanks to all the members of Post 130, the VFW, the DAV and the Moose for their dedication, contributions and hard work.
A special thanks to the ladies of these organizations, your help in preparing for this Benefit was remarkable. I would also like to thank all the speakers and those instrumental in preparing for the Ceremony, as well as the Hendry County community that stood fast during a hot Florida summer day to pay their respect at the Veterans Park Ceremony, because of you LaBelle's Veterans Park is a reality.
For God and Country
Tony Alvarez, Commander Post 130
The July 15th installation of officers was a friendly gathering; the women of the Auxiliary did a fine job decorating the hall. The Post hosted many officials of the area and district. Many members of the Legion, Auxiliary, SAL and the ALR were in attendance. We should also extend our appreciation for the support and services of the District 13 Officers and Staff.
The ceremony for our Fallen Heroes at the new Veterans Memorial Park July 24th was blessed by a warm sunny day. There were many that came to honor our fallen heroes and witness the laying of the ceremonial brick. Much was said about how fortunate LaBelle is to have so many that cared about those that go into military service to protect our community and nation. As a Legionnaire I was proud to have been there. I look foreward to our next ceremony to honor those that have gone to defend our freedoms.
For God and Country,
Carl Pretz, Adjutant.

With Installation behind us I welcome you all to a new year with the American Legion Auxiliary. I would like to congratulate our new officers for 2010-2011.
Thanks to Candy Alvarez and Linda Teasley for their hard work in planning and arranging the beautiful decorations for the Installation.
We were fortunate to take part in a moving ceremony on Saturday, July 24th for the annual Fallen Heroes Benefit, as well as helping to host the afternoon's festivities. The guest speaker, Major General "Nordie" Norwood, was engaging and it was a pleasure meeting with him and his wife, Connie. The event was successful, further benefitting the LaBelle Veterans' Memorial Park. It is an honor to be a part of such a worthy cause.
Please join us in our monthly meetings held the third Thursday of each month at 7:00PM and help in our continued efforts to help our veterans and our community.
Bless our veterans and keep our active service members safe,
Sharon Leventhal, President
American Legion Auxiliary Unit 130
Lazy days and lazy nights of summer. It has been hot! Summer is half over and we have complained about the heat. Soon we can complain about the cold.
The Fallen Heroes Benefit was really good. The ceremony was great and everyone enjoyed the food. Thank all of you for your support.
Paula has retired. We will miss seeing her behind the bar. Hopefully she will stop by and visit us whenever she can.
Have a great rest of the summer,
Your Bartenders
I'm honored to be serving as our Chapter's Director for a 2nd term. Chapter 130 is going to be involved in some amazing things this year, including the Inaugural LaBelle Bike Fest Event, scheduled for 9 October 2010.
It was a pleasure to be part of our 3rd Annual Fallen Heroes Benefit on 24 July. LaBelle's ability to rally together in support of our armed service men and women is something we should all take pride in. Many thanks to Chapter 323 for coming out to support our efforts. It is through our ongoing cooperation with other ALR Chapters that we're able to do so much good for our veterans.
Please remember that our Chapter meets on the 4th Wednesday of each month at 7pm. All members are encouraged to attend.
For God and Country,
Ray 'Bouncer' Leventhal, Director
American Legion Riders

We pray that our Lord will keep the men and women of the armed forces of the United States of America safe from harm. May He continue to watch over our nation and our people. May we find peace in knowing that through our work with the American Legion and other organizations, we willingly and actively serve the greater good, for God and Country.
Post 130 Chaplain
